⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We started entertaining the idea of buying a home late in 2020. The market is currently insane, with a lot of buyers because of low interest rates and not a lot of inventory. My fiancé and I were trying to find that infamous middle ground between DC and Fredericksburg (*facepalm*). We also had two different visions of what we wanted in a house (him “modern”, me “traditional), so to start we had our work cut out for us.
We were fortunate that we were referred to Clay, and that made all the difference in our home searching and buying experience. First Clay helped us identify our must haves (my fiancé wanted a two car garage, wanted a beautiful and level yard), identified how far we wanted to be to the interstate or commuter options, and all the nuances that you don’t realize are a big deal until you’re searching (ex. open concept, no tiny closets). Along the way Clay listened, was patient, and helped us focus to make sure we got our search and location right. He wouldn’t let us settle, and reminded us of our must haves as we searched to make sure we got our dream home. Clay was available, our search area was at the tip of his territory but he was available anytime we wanted to see a home, and made sure we saw it quickly before it was gone (which was always less than 48 hours).
When we found the house both of us liked (yes, magic happens and unicorns exist), Clay guided us through the home buying and negotiating process in an extremely competitive market. His expertise is the only reason why I believe we got the house, and the sellers accepted our offer. He knew what we needed to do. He made sure we made a solid offer, but made sure we didn’t do anything “crazy” like some buyers in the market are. We love this house and are looking forward to making it our home. Clay made this possible.
On another note, Clay volunteers in the community. There is something to be said about a person who dedicates his time to advocate for housing issues, feeds the homeless on weekends, and gives back in the area he lives.
